Our Happy Feet program for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds introduces students to ballet and tap technique encouraging the child’s natural interest in music and movement with an emphasis on the enjoyment of dance. Children can progress from Happy Feet to KinderDance with continued development of ballet and tap technique, body placement and alignment. Our TriStar program introduces Jazz Dance and focuses on the continued development of dance education emphasizing musicality, technique, stage presence and confidence. Our TriStar program offers all students, both recreational and accelerated, an opportunity to study three dance disciplines; ballet, tap, and jazz, all on the same day. PrePointe/Pointe classes concentrate on the necessary strengthening techniques and proper body alignment while emphasizing preparation for pointe shoes.

At the Karen Bernard School of Dance, PrePointe/Pointe classes are recommended by instructors to students when their ballet technique has reached a level to progress to PrePointe/Pointe classes. Students interested in taking PrePointe/Pointe classes must be enrolled in a TriStar or ballet class. In addition to TriStar, we also offer Progressive Technique classes geared for TriStar students who are motivated to advance themselves through practice and repetition. Classes are designed to improve strength, flexibility and levels of technical difficulties.

At the Karen Bernard School of Dance, students who demonstrate exceptional drive and dedication for dance by taking classes in all dance genres may be invited into our Karen Bernard Performance Dance Company. To be considered for our performance company, students must be enrolled in a TriStar program, Pointe, Hip Hop, Modern and progressive jazz and tap classes. Company members perform in multiple dances in all of our shows.
